Kyoko Ibe has been a pioneer in washi-based art since the 1970s, creating works that transcend the boundaries between art, craft, and design. Her wide-ranging practice spans folding screens, canvases, stage sets, and large-scale installations, as well as lighting pieces that blend seamlessly into daily life.
Based in Kyoto, Shion Co., Ltd. designs and produces stationery, lifestyle goods, and interior items that incorporate traditional Japanese washi. Rooted in the beauty of the seasons and harmony with nature, Shion aims to bring the gentle presence of washi into modern living.
